Years 11 & 12 HSC
Standard & Advanced
(Stage 5)
“The aim of Stage 6 English is to enable students to understand, use, enjoy and value the English language in its various textual forms and to become thoughtful, imaginative and effective communicators in a diverse and changing society.”
Board of Studies, NSW
The New South Wales Senior English curriculum offers a wide range of exciting as well as challenging texts for students to analyse, interpret and enjoy. In order for students to successfully engage with and respond to the texts set for study, it is imperative that students become familiar with the course structure as well as the rubric. In addition, students must develop a firm grasp of the wide scope of language and visual techniques inherent in their texts. With a particular focus on the Area of Study as well as the expectations within each of the three Modules and their Electives, students will be guided through a variety of articles, extracts and works of past and contemporary literature to ensure they can recognise the different modes of language forms, features and structures.
